Instagram pays great attention to safety and comfort issues for its users. Instagram correspondence is also governed by community rules, and the settings of the social network determine the rules of its conduct.
To reduce the risk of receiving unpleasant or offensive messages, Instagram has developed a conversation request feature.
What does Request for an Instagram conversation mean?
Where the message will be sent depends on whether you are subscribed to the sender or not.
If you subscribe to a person, it means that you show interest and trust in their content. Therefore, a message from him will immediately get into your chat list.
If a person you are not subscribed to writes to you, the message will appear in correspondence requests. This way, Instagram protects its users from receiving potentially unpleasant information.
To view the correspondence requests, you need to:
1. Click on the "Direct" icon in the upper right corner of the feed:
2. Select the "Requests" tab:
3. You will see a list of correspondence requests. Those that Instagram has automatically identified as unpleasant and undesirable will be immediately placed in the hidden requests section.
You can entrust the filtering of such requests to Instagram or configure it yourself by selecting the "Change preferences for hidden words" function.
Inside this feature, you can set up protection against offensive comments and chat requests, as well as hide comments and requests that you do not want to see by creating a custom list of words, phrases and emoticons.
After reviewing the correspondence request, you can accept, block or delete it. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Go to the conversation request.
2. Apply one of the actions from the list at the bottom of the screen: "Accept" (the message will be added to the chat), "Delete" (the request will disappear from the list), "Block" (blocking the account or sending a complaint about it).
Instagram provides an opportunity to clear your Direct account of all correspondence requests once. To do this, you need to select the "Delete all" option in the list of requests.
If you do not want to receive correspondence requests at all, you can disable them as follows:
1. Go to the "Settings" tab by clicking on the "Three Stripes" icon on the main page of your profile:
2. Select "Privacy"
3. Scroll down to the "Messages" section: Here you can disable requests for correspondence from subscribers: in the "Your Instagram followers" section, check the "Do not receive requests" box and then click "Update settings".
Instagram Facebook Users Alternatively, you can disable chat requests from accounts that are not subscribed to you by selecting the "Do not receive requests" button for the "People on Facebook" and "Other Instagram Users" groups. Message Management also has the option to disable conversation requests from group chats in which you are not a member. To do this, in the "Who can add you to groups" section, select the option "Only people you follow on Instagram".
